DISNEY OFFER SESSION & INFORMATION :) PART 1

Just came back from the Disney Offer Session & it was awesome!!

I was able to get more information than I know already. I was able to talk to some alumni and meet people that are going to be there in Disney with me for the fall which is awesome got questions answered that i was worried about. Everything worked out and i met this great girl her name is Doya and she is going to be going there in 3 weeks and she has her own car hehe :)

Got information:

Make Reservations:
If you plan to arrive before check-in day, make hotel reservations at least 1 month in advance. The high occupancy rates in the area can make it difficult to find rooms at least the last minute. Disney's most affordable rooms are at Disney's ALL-STAR Resorts and Disney's Pop Century Resort.

Money!!!! Roughly $200-$400
Determine how much money you will need to bring with you. It is important to anticipate your spending needs for the first two weeks of your program. During this time you will need money for start-up items for your apartment, food, gas, work-shoes (generally $20-$50), entertainment, etc.

Phone Service
The phones at Vista Way, Chatham, and Patterson Court are for local calls only. You can call collect or use long distance calling cards. Therre is only one phone per apartment, but it does have call waiting. If you have a cell phone with service in Florida, BRING IT!!

Identification
IMPORTANT!! Be sure to bring your driver's license/valid ID and your social security card for check-in. Also, bring your medical insurance information. If you bring your car, MAKE SURE to take your vehicle registration and insurance verification (note: insurance p[olicy must have your name on it!).

Arrival
You have the choice to drive or fly to Orlando. So if you drive, your destination to check in is the Vista Way Apartments. If you are flying, contact Mears Shuttle Service, and they can arrange your transportation to the apartment complex for you!

You should being with you...
  • Linens - You need these, the rooms are furnished with twin size beds. Therefore, you should bring sheets, a comforter, 2 bath towels, a hand towel, a bath mat, a washcloth, a dishcloth, and pot holders for the kitchen. Oh, dont forget the all-important pillows.
  • The only phone they provide is mounted on the wall in the living room. But, you can bring or purchase a cordless phone. Finally, an answer machine can also be very beneficial.
  • If you have TV/VCR available, we would encourage you to bring it. You will not know in advance if your roomates have one!
  • An alarm clock or stereo to play music and wake up to is a much-needed item.
  • Take posters for your walls!! Be creative when you get in your apartment. It's always nice to add a personal touch to make you feel at home.
  • An assorment of your favorite movies can be a great thing to bring with you. After the first month, the feeling of being on vacation starts to wear off and staying home to watch a movie can be nice change.
  • Make sure that you pack warm clothes and an umbrella or rain coat.
  • Pack business clothing. You will not need to bring your professional business suits, but just business casual attire (slacks, blouses, skirts, ties for the guys, dress, etc.). Remember to review your Disney Look Book so that you comply with the clothing guidelines upon arrival!!! You will need business casual attire during during your class time and certain training sessions. You may wear whatever you choose during all other times when you are "off the clock"
  • If you have a laptop computer, bring it with you as well. If not, there are computers available for you in the Disney Learning Centers throughout property.

ORIENTATION & APPLYING for D.C.P.

Hello name is Daisy :) I am 20 years old and i live in Miami fl. I'm applying for the Disney College Program for the FALL of 2010. Well, i always saw the posters around school about it but i never really got to it, you know. But i finally went to the Orientation on March 9th and I applied for it right there and then. You get to live at Disney. You get to work there. Meet different people from different countries. Of course FREE ADMISSION!!!!!

I am really really excited about it!!!! :D

Well, I have been going to Disney for years ever since I was 2 years old. ever since then been at least every year. Disney is one of my favorite places to go to. Like my inner child comes out on the journey there. You forget about the world you know.

I have always wanted to know what goes on in Disney you know like backstage. I have always wanted to work at Disney to be to sing or dance or even draw for Disney.

I am really excited about this but I am really scared at the same time because right now so far my friends said they are going ....but they really aren't. Either because they don't want to (which i think is CRAZY! who doesn't want to go to Disney) or they didn't get accepted. :(
So I am really going up there all by my lonesome self.
But then again I am really excited. hehe

I applied for Attractions which is my 1st choice. I would love to work at the Haunted Mansion, Pirates of the Caribbean, Star Tours,
Twilight Zone: Tower of Terror, Space Mountain and Splash Mountain.
Then there is Merchandise, Character Attendant, and of course maybe be one of the Disney Character! ^_^

K, Talk To You Later!!

ALL DREAMS CAN COME TRUE, IF WE HAVE THE COURAGE TO PURSUE THEM.
